Today, Wednesday 4th March, ILPRA turns 60.
It is a great achievement and the result of a long journey that we've have made together. Some of you have shared this with me and my family from many years, others have just begun and more will join along the way.
I would like to express my sincere and profound gratitude to everyone for what has been done, for the commitment and seriousness that each of you has shown, and for the loyalty that I received. Without these values we would not be able to achieve these results.
What surrounds us today is quite different from what was around us when we started the journey: we have grown, we have adapted our organization and accepted new challenges. There have been times where we’ve won and others that we’ve lost, but we’ve done so without losing heart, remaining united by mutual support and the will to succeed even when the goal seemed unattainable.
I believe that these are the prerequisites for success: to adapt to the context without losing its own identity and especially its own values.
What will ILPRA be 60 years from now, we won’t know: I see it change a little every day, more than ever, but I know that to continue our journey successfully we must not forget that it is the sharing that has led us here, the desire to feel united and face the good times, as well as the negative ones, with the same unity of a large family.
I conclude by wishing good luck to all and a sincere thank you to each and every one you.
